Petra is a transplant from the Tomah/Alma area. She was living near a campground and some campers in an RV fed her while they were on vacation. When it was time for them to leave they asked around the campground to see if Petra belonged to anyone and they discovered she was homeless and had been hanging around the campground since summer. Because Petra is such a wonderful kitty they decided to adopt her and took Petra with them in their RV. But, they already had a cat in their camper and the two felines did not get along in the close quarters. So after four days of touring the state in an RV, Petra ended up in Manitowoc County and the RV couple wanted to leave her at a no-kill shelter but couldn't find one in the area so a local vet recommended the Free Roamer program. There has been a thorough search in the Tomah area to determine that she does not belong to anybody in that area--she was living at the campground relying on campers to feed her scraps. She is a shy, muted tortie who likes to talk--Petra has a little bit of 'Tortitude', she would probably do best in a quieter home--she is a really good girl, just a little cautious around people. She may cringe when anyone approaches to pet her, but it only takes me a few seconds for her to get used to the attention--she loves to have her head rubbed--it makes her kneading paws go crazy! She totally enjoys treats, and loves playtime with any kind of toys that she can stalk and pounce on. If you are looking for a quiet companion, then sweet Petra may be the girl for you! It may take her a little time to warm up to her new home, but with a few treats and toys she will settle in just fine. Once she feels comfortable she will come out of her shell for lots of playtime and cuddles She loves fresh catnip--drives her crazy! It's estimated that Petra is between 2 and 5 years old. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped. The first 30 days in her new forever home will include Petfirst health insurance which covers the cost of any accident or illness.
